Israel-Lebanon Strike Odds on Polymarket: September 2026

Polymarket's "Israel military action against Lebanon on September 6?" contract prices a 97.7c chance that today already qualifies - as of 2026-09-06 11:10 UTC, up 67 points on the day. It had sat on an 80c plateau overnight, then jumped between about 03:55 and 04:40 UTC once dawn strikes on two towns in south Lebanon left four dead. A second, broader contract on the same event - "Israel closes its airspace by September 30?" - didn't move at all. The military-action event traded $196K over the past 24 hours on $33K of liquidity; the airspace event traded $250K on $113K. Numbers below are from Gamma and the CLOB, fetched at that time.

01What happened at dawn

Four dead in Nabatieh al-Fawqa and Arab Salim

Israel's military said it struck southern Lebanon at dawn on Sunday, September 6, after Hezbollah fighters launched two drones toward Israeli forces operating in a self-declared "security zone" roughly 10km inside the Lebanese border - a "blatant violation," in Israel's phrasing. Lebanon's health ministry reported at least four killed and 20 wounded, including women and children, in strikes that hit Nabatieh al-Fawqa, Arab Salim, Nabatieh city, and Kfar Reman; two women died in Arab Salim, two more people in Nabatieh al-Fawqa. Per Al Jazeera and France 24, Lebanon's National News Agency said Israel issued an evacuation warning for one building, then struck a separate house nearby, destroying it. Hezbollah called the strikes a campaign carried out amid "complete international silence and blatant American complicity."

The strikes land despite a ceasefire framework that has held since June: a US-Iran memorandum and a separate Israel-Lebanon agreement that sharply cut the pace of attacks, even as Israeli forces kept operating inside the southern security zone. Lebanon puts the toll from the wider war, running since March 2026, at more than 4,300 dead. This blog covered the last flare- up in this same conflict two days ago, when Israel took "operational control" of Lebanon's Ali al-Taher ridge; today's strikes are a separate, later incident, not a continuation of that story's price action.

02The chart

One gauge spikes, the other doesn't blink

Polymarket's daily 'Israel military action against Lebanon on September 6' contract held an 80c plateau overnight, then jumped to a 97.9c intraday high between about 03:55 and 04:40 UTC on September 6, 2026, as dawn strikes on Nabatieh al-Fawqa and Arab Salim killed four; the broader 'Israel closes its airspace by September 30' contract stayed in a 62-73c band the whole time, untouched by the news. 60c 70c 80c 90c 100c 00:00 03:43 07:26 11:09 DAWN STRIKES: 4 KILLED Strike on Sep 6 Airspace closure Strike on Sep 6 97.7c Airspace closure 67.5c
Polymarket "Israel military action against Lebanon on September 6?" versus "Israel closes its airspace by September 30?", 5-minute prints, Sep 6 00:00 - 11:09 UTC 2026. CLOB price history, fetched 2026-09-06 11:10 UTC.

The military-action contract is a strict daily bet: Gamma's rules count only an Israeli air strike or surface-to-surface missile strike that directly impacts Lebanon - ground incursions, artillery, small-arms fire, and intercepted munitions all explicitly do not qualify. It opened the day at 80c, chopped in a tight 79.5-81c band through the night on the standing base rate for a war that has run since March, then broke out once reports of the dawn strikes reached the resolution sources, hitting 96c by 04:15 UTC and settling at a 97.9c intraday high by 04:40 UTC. It last traded 97.7c, bid 96.2c / ask 99.3c, on a 3.1c spread - about as close to settled as an open contract gets. The airspace-closure contract, watching the same war for a much bigger threshold, wobbled in a 57-73c range the entire session without so much as a step change around the strikes.

03What the rest of the ladder says

The whole week got marked up, not just today

Gamma runs this market as a full daily ladder through September 30, and today's news didn't stop at the September 6 contract. September 7 - a contract with real depth, bid 81c / ask 85c - traded up 33 points to 83c alongside it, and September 9 through 14 each moved 13-31 points higher on the day, landing in a 71.5-81.5c cluster. That is a full week of the ladder being repriced up in sympathy with one morning's strikes, not a single contract spiking and the rest holding still.

DAILY LADDER YES 24H SPREAD
Sep 4 (past) 97.0c -2.5 5.7c
Sep 5 (past) 46.5c -24.5 71.0c*
Sep 6 (today) 97.7c +67.3 3.1c
Sep 7 (tomorrow) 83.0c +33.0 4.0c
Sep 11 80.5c +30.0 15.0c

The September 5 line is the exception worth explaining rather than ignoring: it shows 46.5c a full day after that date has passed, but on a 71-cent-wide book (11c bid, 82c ask) - nobody is really trading it. That gap is the tell that no one strike from that specific calendar day cleared Gamma's bar cleanly enough to attract size, not that the market genuinely sees it as a coin flip. September 6 and 7, by contrast, are both quoted inside a 4c spread - real conviction, not noise.

04Watching the ladder from here

A daily contract needs the next day's price too

A single daily contract only answers "did it happen today" - reading the whole ladder side by side is what shows whether a market thinks a strike is a one-off or the start of a run. polymarket-tui lists an event's related markets together with live price and 24-hour move, so a ladder like this one shows its shape at a glance instead of requiring a dozen separate tabs.
